Wow! What a great beginning to our ministry together. There was a good crowd, a wonderful spirit, and a real sense of anticipation, I think, regarding what God is going to do here at GBC.
Thanks for the great feedback on the bulletin insert, I received twenty or so and very much appreciate your response.
Let’s move forward with ONE MIND; planning, praying, working and believing that God will produce a real life saving station on Lone Star Rd. If you have continuing thoughts on the sermon, I encourage your response. This blog exists to generate conversation.

Pastor Dave & Julia,
In my mind, I have called you several times this past week to say, ” Hi, I am Valerie. Welcome Home, we are so glad that you have arrived!” I have failed to do so, for fear that it might seem strange receiving a call from someone who has yet to meet you. You see, we are the family that drives 5 hours to attend church at Grace. Due to the distance, we are unable to make it every week, but do try to make it at least twice a month. Our daughter, Brooklyn, is starting Kindergarten in a few days, so this has kept us near home, trying to get into the routine of early to bed, early to rise.
Not being able to be there to be a part of the “welcoming” of your family has been difficult, but through this blog, I feel that we are now somewhat a part of what is happening there at Grace. I am thrilled that today was such a wonderful time, for I have been praying all week for you, your family, and you first day as Pastor of Grace! Thank you for this blog and I look forward to reading what you have to say. And so I sign off, but not before saying, “Welcome and thank you for coming to Pastor us all here at Grace.” I look forward to meeting you all soon!
With Anticipation,
Valerie Crane-Schatz
I just wanted to thanks for the powerful, inspirational message and especially for the passion you presented it with.
Great Sermon
your email was on the page we turned in
I will be willing to work in the office on Wed or Tues mornings
Brent and I said to each other as we were greeting Sunday morning “You can just feel the energy here this morning”.
Thank you for the sermons you preached morning and night. I have been thinking about them a lot and Brent and I have been discussing how we can apply them to our lives. Like I told a friend at church yesterday after she expressed how great the sermons were, I said “Yes, and now we have a lot of living to do” (to practice what you preached).
As for your post today…with all the questions about this area…well we’ll get to working on some answers.
Pastor Dave, both sermons spoke to my heart deeply! I was thinking about them into the wee hours of the morning-praying and searching my heart. I wrote down many things,& trusting Him to help me to have HIS mind. As far as your post today about all the ?s…WOW! I don’t know the answers but I am anxious to read what they are as they come in.
Blessings on you & Julia & the children!Faith
I have been rejoicing over the two wonderful sermons from Sunday and been sharing some of your thoughts with a couple of our people that where not there.
Within myself I can just feel the excitment that God is really going to do something for us and we had better get prepared for it.
It is so amazing to see how God works in just the little things of our lives as of Sunday dinner for us! Thank you God!
My eyes were opened to some thougts about conflicts and I thank you so much.
